This part of the site is dedicated to my favourite island retreat, Lundy in the Bristol Channel. The name means 'puffin' in old Norse, although few pairs of these birds remain, as it is the very edge of their territory. The island is completely unspoilt, and totally unique in that there is no resident population to resent mass invasion by outsiders.
The island is owned by the National Trust, who lease it in turn, to the Landmark Trust. All islanders are employed by the Trust purely to look after the needs of the island and her visitors. It is a special and unique place, affectionately, and most appropriately nicknamed Heaven's Isle, after its one time owners, the Heaven family.
